Emailing an Attachment

posted 23 Apr 2010 04:22 by Digi50+ Admin   [ updated 26 Apr 2010 03:26 ]

After writing your email and adding the correct information in the To: box and the Subject: box look for the word ATTACHMENTS or ATTACH FILE or a PAPER CLIP SYMBOL and double click on this.

This will then open a BROWSE window.  You will need to know where the file or photo that you want to attach is.

This enables you to look in your computer locations for the picture or file that you want to attach.  It will say LOOK IN.

How to open an attachment from your email.

1.    Open your email and look for the attachment - usually indicated by a paper clip symbol.

2.    Double click on the attachment name

3.    A window will appears that allows you to select OPEN or SAVE

 4.    Click on OPEN

5.    The attachment will be opened by the appropriate programme whether it’s a picture, a document or a powerpoint presentation.

This allows you to view it only.  You can only now save this to a location on your computer by using FILE and SAVE AS.

How to save an attachment to your computer for viewing later.

6.    Left Click (once) on the attachment name only (You may have to double click BUT don’t open the attachment, if you do accidentally, close the window).

7.    This will open a window giving you a SAVE or OPEN option.  In the window choose the SAVE option [See SAVING FILES & PHOTOS Sheet 3]

8.    This will open a window asking where you want to save it.

9.    If the attachment is a picture, in the top window, use the arrow and look for My Pictures, and select My Pictures. If a document, select My Documents.

10.           In the top line it should now say My Pictures (or My Documents), in the File name line check the file name (YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT IT IS CALLED) – change it if you need to; in the File type, it should say .jpg (or.jpeg).

11.           If this is correct, click save.

The file/picture  is now on your PC or Laptop.  You can close your email and access this image in My Pictures (or My Documents).  The attachment is still in your email.  The version on your PC is a copy.
